The Constitution

There was a protest in Los Angeles against Donald Trump today. Lots of conservatives lost their shit over it.

Here is what I want to know:

Conservatives like to pretend that they LOVE the Constitution of the United States of America. They like to glorify it as the almighty document that should rule everything. They obsessively talk about how great it is.

However, they do not seem to have read it.

The right of the people to peacefully assemble and petition the government for redress of grievances is in the very first amendment. That is how important the founding fathers thought it was.  They enshrined it in the very first part of the Bill of Rights.

However, if you express your RIGHT to protest, they have a fit.

They like to say that all the Occupy protesters were criminals. They like to say that anyone protesting Trump should be thrown in jail because they are anti-Democracy.

This is so far off that it’s impossible to follow the leap in logic that they are taking. We have the right to protest. It’s in the Constitution. But if we do it, we should go to jail? So… they want expressing your rights to be a crime?

And protesting Donald Trump is undoubtedly the most patriotic thing that any of us can do. Let’s be honest: He is a fascist that proposes the same kind of policies as Hitler, and uses the same kind of rhetoric. That is terrifying.

So let’s all protest Trump, but let’s also protest conservative Americans. I can’t stand their ignorance any more.
